Business Partnering Responsibilities
CREATE BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS by
Working closely with Store Management, Regional VP of Stores, Buyers, Planners, Corporate Human Resources and Asset Protection to resolve open issues, engaging in strategic planning with special programs; planning, prioritizing and scheduling store visits to achieve business results.
COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY AND PROVIDE INFORMATION by
exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude with business partners; encouraging others to share ideas and suggestions; being open to other’s opinions; giving constructive feedback and being open to receiving feedback from others.
DEVELOP STORE MANAGEMENT STAFF by
establishing high performance standards for stores in the district; providing information and reinforcing the use of all Stein Mart Development Programs and job specific training programs; partnering with Store Managers to develop Assistant Managers and Merchandise Managers; giving constructive performance feedback that is timely, actionable, and specific.
CREATE MANAGEMENT SUCCESSION PLANS by
developing the district’s internal talent pool to create career advancement opportunities; tracking progress of Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Merchandise Managers development and career goals; identifying Managers that are ready for career advancement; preparing and submitting succession plans for staffing to the Regional VP of Stores; developing a district A-Team that includes a full roster with back-ups.
EFFECTIVELY RECRUIT AND SELECT MANAGEMENT STAFF by
working with Store Managers and Assistant Managers to develop and evaluate recruiting plans that serve each store’s unique market; actively and consistently recruiting Assistant Manager candidates to meet staffing needs; selecting Store and Assistant Store Managers for new store openings; evaluating turnover rates and working to reduce turnover.
PREPARE PLANS TO REACH OBJECTIVES by
planning and prioritizing work based on critical factors; revising plans to account for changed circumstances; managing time efficiently to ensure meeting deadlines.
MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS by
using analytical thinking skills to identify potential problems and develop appropriate solutions.
ACHIEVE STORE’S FINANCIAL OBJECTIVES by
reviewing and approving semi-annual budgets according to guidelines; approving, tracking and controlling expenditures of all stores in the district; analyzing information to understand sales opportunities.
MANAGE HUMAN RESOURCE DOCUMENTATION AND INFORMATION REPORTING
ASSESS RECEIVING MANAGEMENT by
partnering with Store Management and Operations Lead to review processes and required information; brainstorming for new and better ways to improve efficiencies and ensuring product is on floor timely and in good condition.
ASSESS ASSET PROTECTION MANAGEMENT by
reviewing audits; partnering with Store Management and Asset Protection to identify and resolve potential loss/audit issues; Working with Store Management Teams and Asset Protection to resolve loss issues; supporting and reinforcing the use of all asset protection programs.
ASSESS MARKETING AND MERCHANDISING by
understanding Stein Mart’s advertising philosophy, promotional strategies, merchandising guidelines and each store’s unique style; giving constructive feedback to optimize selling space and maximize selling potential; working with Store Management Teams and Buyers/Planners to ensure merchandise needs are met.
ANALYZE AND IMPROVE SALES RESULTS by
tracking and evaluating sales against business plans; assessing business by regularly walking the floor with Store Management Teams on each store visit and using the business development reports to determine sales strengths and opportunities for sales growth.
Customer Service Responsibilities
DEVELOP A STRONG CUSTOMER FOCUS by
exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude when speaking with customers, business partners and associates; answering customer inquiries about products, services, store policies and complaints; reviewing each store’s customer service survey scores and working with managers on opportunities for improving customer service; researching each store market to develop a thorough understanding of the retail competition, customer base, demographics and employment rate.
Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 5 to 7 years applicable retail work experience, including a minimum of 5 years management experience.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in merchandising skills, numeric reasoning to include proficiency in: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and calculating percentages. Computer knowledge and experience using a computer: in a Windows environment, to email and navigate the internet.
Behavioral Attributes: Should exhibit a strong interest in working with people. Comfortable with change, enjoys variety in work and thrives on creating effective solutions. Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role with supervisory capacity. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort required. Standing and walking will constitute 90% of a work shift. Stooping and lifting various merchandise contents of up to 20 lbs. or more on an as needed basis.
Travel: Weekly travel throughout the district is required.
