    The Art Director reports to the Creative Director and will be the Creative Director’s primary partner in developing and bringing the brand vision to life through, unique, aspirational marketing that builds brand awareness, while driving traffic in stores and online. The right candidate will work directly with the Creative Director to develop  strategically inspired and creatively led cross-channel ideas from concept to fruition, conceptualizing, executing and designing creative projects that drive the Stein Mart brand vision.

    Responsibilities

    • Play a leading role in developing concepts, photography and design of all brand, sale and marketing materials, including: creative campaigns, direct mail projects, direct marketing projects, in-store collateral & signage.
    • Art direct photo shoots, both on-set and through electronic communications.
    • Collaborate with the managers of the areas that are customer touch points on ideas and concepts to deliver the best photography to support their messages and brand awareness.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional partners including visual display, marketing, merchant teams and outside creative vendors.
    • Solve problems and find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters and/or time restraints.
    • Multi-task and balance multiple projects at a time.
    • Provide direction and feedback to graphic designers and production.

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years working in a creative team.
    • Retail / Fashion background needed.
    • Degree in visual communication, design or a related course of study.
    • Online portfolio required.
    • Strong design sensibility, typographic flair and thorough attention to detail.
    • Motivated, proactive, highly organized and able to adapt to changing priorities.
    • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
    • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
    • Experience with the print production process.
    • Strong technical skills with Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on InDesign and Bridge, but also Photoshop and Illustrator.
